I have a 2008 commercial 500 series Z Master which I have spent 3 solid days trying to figure out why it won’t run. Replaced the starter, starter solenoid, and PTO switch. I’m just a regular Saturday wrench with no special tools or volt meters...wouldn’t know how to read it anyway. With the new starter, I could hear the bendix spinning, but not being sent up to the flywheel. This told me it wasn’t getting enough voltage. Which braid starter rope works best, what is the difference?

I have thought for a long time that all starter rope / pull cords / recoil twine was diamond braid, however it appears that double braids, solid braids, and even premium braid is also used... Meanwhile it does appear that it is all 'nylon' rope.

What I am curious about, other than visual appeal and how it is woven, assuming they're all tightly woven is there any noticeable difference between these types of braids, such as in the actual application?

Hi all.

I have an old (as in 2000ish vintage) Yazoo Kees with a Kohler CH25 engine with a fixed ignition system.

It suddenly stopped running, so checked the three things an ICE needs: compression, fuel, spark.

Compression and fuel are good, but spark appears inconsistent: weak to non-existent, both using a tester (automotive -- the HFT in-line spark type with a very faint orange signal) and directly thru the grounded plug.

I want to replace the coils first and see if that is the issue,...

stripped spark plug threads

My mother in laws riding lawn mower "shot" the spark plug out last night. When I went over to take a look at it I did notice that the threads of the plug were messed up. She did mention that a repair shop a few years ago had mentioned to her and my now deceased father in law, that the threads are messed up in the cylinder head. It's a scotts brand riding mower with if my memory serves me well, a 12.5hp briggs and stratton single cylinder.

This engine is on a Swisher trail mower which I use very very little. I took it to a local repair shop in spring 2019 and had blades sharpened, new spark plug, fuel filter, air filter, etc. for general tune up. It was started and ran fine when I picked it up from shop. I brought it back and put it inside my shed on a concrete floor. Kawasaki 23hp to 25hp conversion

I own an 03 Hustler z with a 23 hp kawasaki engine. It currently has about 1100 hrs on it and still runs great. My question is... When it comes time to rebuild the engine, is it possible to convert it to 25hp? I know that the displacement of the 23 and the 25 are the same...is it differences in the head assembly and carb that make more hp? Any info would be appreciated.

EB854 Valve Clearance

I've been doing a lot of searching and I'm having trouble finding what the valve clearances should be for a shindaiwa eb854. The blower runs great but I can see the cam lobe is quite worn so after i replace it I'd like to make sure everything is in spec.

I have a Ferris 3200Z. It's time to change the hydro oil. Manual says 20w-50 conventional oil. I want to use synthetic but there are not many options. I found that some people may use 15w-50 syn. What are folks using on here?

Kawasaki Won't crank/turn over when hot...starter??

Hi,
I am having some starting issues with the 19 hp Kawasaki FH601V on my Gravely ztr. When the engine is cool it will crank and start without any sign of hesitation weakness. The problem is that about 1/3rd of the time when the engine is hot it will refuse to turn over and all I get when I turn the key is a clicking noise.
Thus far I have
1. Checked the battery, it is good with 12.8 volts(14volts when running)
2. Cleaned the terminals
3. Checked the voltage where it ENTERS the...

Can anyone verify if this is normal play? I assume it's not but have no way of knowing. Mowed on Saturday and there's a rattle coming from under there somewhere. I took belts off and all pulleys sound and turn smooth. Springs are adjusted properly. Any help is appreciated!

SCAG SWZ Hydro Pump removal

Hey guys, my Lh hydro pump is not working properly, so I need to remove it. The mower is a 2012ish SWZ and came with a 19hp Kawasaki engine. I was wondering if anyone could describe the easiest way to remove the pump from the frame or if there was a video or picture thread with a walkthrough! Thanks guys

Hey guys, so I needed to upgrade my old 1998ish 36'' eaglestar mower. So I shopped around a little and found a decent 2014 bobcat classic 933007G with 75 hours for sale so I went and picked it up and got some questions about the pto. When I push the pto button off the blades do not shut off unless I either turn the throttle down or I let go of the safety handles. This is my first bobcat and my first newer style mower so I don't know if this is normal operation or not. My gut is telling me...

Kawasaki 541v Carburetor Issue

The issue is that if the fuel shutoff is left open gas drains down into the carb causing hard starting/flooding. If the valve shutoff is used there are no problems.

Which part of the carb needs repaired or replaced?

purchased a scag freedom Z. Been sitting in the weather for a few years.

Put new battery, solenoid, and pto switch on it.
Turn key and still doesn’t turn over?

Any ideas?

I've got a Shindaiwa M242 with several attachments that I picked up really cheap. The powerhead has seen better days. I'm stuck with the decision of rebuilding the engine on this M242 or buying a new one. The attachments on this unit twist, just enough to annoy me anyway. Yea, the unit runs, but not long before she soaks the spark plug, and blows oil out of the muffler. So, I'm leaning towards buying a new one, and maybe going to one with a little more hp. I don't know if these attachments...

I have a 2017 Ferris Z2 52" with fx730efi and was sitting at 97 hours to finish my first summer at home. Changed hydro oil and filters today and when I was done, i noticed that with the parking brake on, my right stick would move and the left was locked out like it should be.

I know the sticks are supposed to be locked when parking brake is on, i have no idea what I did. The parking brake works when engaged. With the machine off and the hydros bypassed i can turn the wheel with the...

Hypro D 403 pump leaking

It got a little cold the other night.... really wasn’t concerned about it freezing but the next day I ran my hypro d 403 pump and it was leaking. I was getting pressure and oil looks good. However it was leaking a good amount out of the valve covers. Diaphragms look good, and no water in oil. Just bad seals? Any one else have this problem?

I have a 61" Grasshopper 322D with the Kubota 25HP diesel engine. It's been a great machine. I bought it new and I use it for residential purposes only. For the last two years I've noticed that when I mow in heavier grass the temp gauge is getting hotter than it had in the past. If I continue to mow I do believe it would overheat. I have never allowed it to get to that point. If it's a really warm day I take breaks and allow it to idle and cool down. As long as I'm mowing on flat...

1993 Isuzu NPR overdrive shifting problems

I have a 1993 Isuzu NPR. All of a sudden it quit shifting into overdrive. While in drive at 35mph or so, if you stomp it (not necessarily to the floor) it will shift into overdrive, however, if you lift off the accelerator or the truck levels out based on where you have the accelerator, it immediately drops back down into drive even if you are going 65mph.
