eXmark/Kohler stator problems

Hello, On my eXmark Lazer Z I need to get to the stator to either replace or possibly make a repair, How difficult is it to get to it and any suggestions/tips/advice/on how is the best way to do it, also any special tools required to get to and or remove it. Thanks.
