Please clear this up.

I just purchased a Hustler Super Z with a Kohler 28 HP EFI engine. I've been reading posts that you should not jump start an EFI engine or let them run out of gas.
Are these posts true or can you jump start them.
This is my first EFI engine and I'm curious to see what you guys think.
