Was given a 1986-1988 John Deere 165 Hydro (minus many components) with the 460v Kawasaki 12.5 hp motor. I replaced the starter, ignition switch, voltage regulator, and ignitor. At times when starting it will click like a bad starter, then all I need to do is move the flywheel by hand past the compression point and it fires up and runs like a champ. Any idea's what's causing this? I'm thinking valves but that is something I have never done nor know how to. Any help would be greatly...
