Last fall the 16hp vangaurd threw a rod through the block, had another unit to finish fall off so no biggie, fast forward to now and I scored a good deal on a new 18hp electric start vangaurd. In all my infinite wisdom I just assumed the impeller would be a 1 inch shaft, it is a 1 1/8 shaft, obviously not going to work, my question is, will a 1 to 1 1/8 adapter work and be strong enough to handle the abuse the impeller will give it?
